Taff Ely School Review

On Tuesday 25 September RCT announced a massive shake up of education in Taff Ely.

In brief these plans would:

  1. close English language sixth forms and transfer students to either Bryncelynnog or Coleg y Cymmoedd.  In the case of Catholic education students would move to Cardiff.
  2. close YGG Pont Sion Norton and move the school to the current Heol y Celyn site in Rhydyfelin.
  3. close Cilfynydd Primary School with students moving to Pontypridd High
  4. expand Hawthorn and Pontypridd High Schools to provide education from age 3 to 16.

We in Plaid Cymru Pontypridd would love to hear your opinion on these plans.  We are keen not to rush to judgement on such an important proposal.  We do however have some serious concerns about a number of elements of these plans.

Do you support the plan to close Cilfynydd Primary School, with pupils transferring to the new 3-16 school at Pontypridd High.
