Work to Start on White Bridge
Cllr Heledd Fychan - M.S. for South Wales Central has welcomed the announcement by RCT that work is scheduled to start on repairing the White Bridge. The bridge has been closed since Storm Dennis in February 2020, causing chaos for road users and massively affecting the quality of life of many residents of Berw Road.
This news follows only 3 weeks after the launching of a petition calling for urgent action.

Justice for Flood Victims
On the night of February 15th 2020 large areas of RCT were hit by Storm Dennis.
Storm Dennis was a European windstorm which, in February 2020, became one of the most intense extratropical cyclones ever recorded, reaching a minimum central pressure of 920 millibars (27.17 inches of mercury) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Dennis]
Across RCT over 1,000 properties were flooded. In the Pontypridd Constituency, residents of Pontypridd, Trefforest and Taffs Well suffered extreme flooding.
The damage was extensive to houses, businesses and transport infrastructure.

Fight for Justice for Flood Victims Continues a Year-on
“The need for an Independent Inquiry remains, and the fight continues until we secure justice for those affected and investment in flood prevention measures. Our communities will not be able to rest easy until this happens, and I call on the Welsh Government to re-think their position to date, and establish an Independent Inquiry as a matter of urgency.”
