Cilfynydd GP Petition / Deiseb

Following the announcement by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board that Taff Vale Practice has made an application to close the Cilfynydd surgery, I am signing this petition to ask CTMUHB to reject the application and for Taff Vale Practice to reopen the Surgery in Cilfynydd.

“We, the residents of Cilfynydd and Norton Bridge, have to travel to Dewi Sant or Rhydyfelin to be seen by a local doctor. By signing this petition, we are asking Taff Vale Practice to secure the future of the surgery in Cilfynydd and request that the surgery reopens and returns to providing a service to the local community.”

As a non driver, who is also a single parent to 2 children, I have found travelling to other branches for healthcare stressful, expensive and very time consuming. If one of my children were to become very Ill I worry about the multiple journeys it would take to enable them to be seen by a gp not to mention the germs they could spread if contagious. As a regular bus user, I have also had many, many conversations with older members of the community in Cilfynydd, who are really struggling with the current situation. Existing conditions are being exacerbated by the stress of getting to appointments on time and long hours on their feet, as well as some resorting to expensive taxis as they cannot face the discomfort of the journeys. I appreciate times are difficult at the moment and everyone is looking to make cutbacks, but I really feel this is an essential service for the patients of Cilfynydd. Healthcare shouldn’t be a luxury, but sadly it is starting to feel that way. I ask on behalf of my family and many others in the village that this proposal be reversed.

We desperately need this surgery open. Takes 2 buses to get to Rhydyfelin and 2 buses Dewi Sant. Some of our on going illnesses and disabilities stop us even getting on a bus to attend any appointments. Most of us have no vehicles and old ages, and NO mobiles for some do not help us to know what’s happening with things. We have a bus from top to bottom of the village to help with appointment. But we need a doctor an nurses to take bloods and give injections. This is totally a very bad situation for all people of Cilfynydd to have to be in, cannot believe they will leave us without help and support. WE NEED THEM Desperately!!

This surgery has been open since the 1980s and people rely on it. It takes 1 or 2 buses to get to the other sites.

The closure is not fair on the residents of Cilfynydd, especially the elderly, disabled or people without transport.

I’m registered with Taff Vale as I grew up and resided in Cilfynydd well into my adult years.

Taff vale had got away with the branch being closed for too long due to Covid and never reopening due to one reason or another

Cilfynydd residents should have a fully functioning GP Surgery in the village.
